Tumut.org is an independent community, business and visitor discovery hub built around Tumut NSW 2720.
Tumut.org exists to reduce the number of places people have to search for common local information. A visitor might arrive looking for a fuel price, an event, a business or a place to stay; the site is designed to make the next useful piece of local information easy to find as well.
The site is independent and is not the official website of Snowy Valleys Council, Destination NSW, NSW Courts, NSW FuelCheck, local publishers or community radio stations. Where information comes from another organisation, Tumut.org aims to identify the source and link people back to it.
For time-sensitive information, Tumut.org should not pretend to replace the authoritative source. Fuel Watch uses NSW FuelCheck data; court information directs visitors to NSW court systems; grocery comparisons identify the retailer product data behind verified matches; event pages link to the organiser or regional source where possible.
Our role is to make that information easier to use in a Tumut context, while preserving the path back to the original source.
When a reliable match or current data point cannot be verified, the site should say so rather than force an answer. Live-data tools use source labels, update times and last-known-good fallbacks where practical. Visitors can also report corrections for review.
Tumut.org uses display advertising, affiliate partnerships, featured business visibility and local sponsored campaigns to help fund the site. Sponsored creative is labelled. Paying for advertising does not change fuel rankings, grocery comparison results, user-review scores or the organic ordering of directory information.
Pages are structured so people can quickly understand the answer, source and update status. Clear headings, canonical URLs, structured data and internal links also help search engines and AI search systems understand what each page represents. The goal is not to manufacture citations; it is to publish information worth citing.
